Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is a sharp knife safer than a dull one?

Absolutely! A sharp knife will “bite” into food products, cutting through instead of smashing them. When a knife is dull, the user tends to push harder. A dull knife might slip off the food and has the potential to cut your finger. A cut from a dull knife takes longer to heal.

Can Stainless Steel Rust?

Yes, any stainless steel product can develop rust spots. Stainless steel is not ‘stain free’ which means it stains less than alloy or carbon steel. Caring for your knife properly can help prevent rust from developing on the blade.

How long will my edge last before I need to sharpen it?

This will depend on how much the knife is used. AUS-10 steel knife should keep its effective sharpness for 6 to 8 months with average daily use. This can be longer if you are honing your knife on a weekly or monthly basis. You can use a piece of paper to test the sharpness of the full length of the edge to see if you need to hone or sharpen the edge.

It is important to note a sharp knife is safer to use than a dull knife. Once a knife becomes dull the edge will fail to easily penetrate the item being cut and may slip away from the surface which can cause you to accidentally cut yourself. More force is also needed to cut through something with a dull knife which can also cause a dangerous accident if the knife slips away from the surface in an unintended direction.

What is the angle of the edge of your knife?

This will depend on the knife models, most of the knives are sharpened to a 15 degree angle. For bone chopper knives are sharpened to a 25 degree angle.

Where Are Your Knives Made?

Our Knives are made in Yianjiang China using imported Japanese Steel. The region has been involved in the manufacturing of knives for 1,500 years and is the Chinese equivalent of Solingen (Germany), Thiers (France), or Seki (Japan).
By using the latest technologies and constant innovation our factory produces only the highest quality knives, delivered to you at affordable prices.

Are Your Knives Dishwasher Safe?

As with all quality knives should never be placed in the dishwasher. Harsh chemicals can damage the steel and cause rust spots to form. More importantly, items will move around in the dishwasher which may cause knives to become chipped.

If you could only have one knife, what should it be?

A Chefs Knife is the answer, hands down. It is the most versatile shape. It can handle almost any task, from fish, meat and veggies.
